guiding you
towards balance

I’m glad you are here

I’m Katlyn, and I am a licensed massage therapist with over 10 years of experience helping people with chronic pain and stress, postural issues and more. Inspired by my own healing journey with scoliosis, I strive to help my clients better understand and manage their pain patterns, and guide them toward a more balanced and comfortable version of themselves. Massage is an excellent therapy to aid the body with so many healing processes, and I am passionate about sharing this modality with those I work with.

I believe the body holds onto physical and emotional trauma that we experience in life, and learning how to release these blockages and enhance the body’s function is such a powerful self-care method. My goal is to help you release what your body is holding on to and learn to manage your pain so that you can live a more fulfilling life.

I utilize many approaches when it comes to massage therapy, which I incorporate after communicating with clients and assessing their physical body to learn what may best suit them at that given time. A typical massage session with me involves relaxing the nervous system with calming massage strokes, slow stretching of the soft tissue, trigger point release, deep tissue work, and cupping therapy if needed. I intuitively listen to the body to observe how it is responding to the therapy I am providing and adjust my approach as needed to allow the body to relax into releasing tension.

I look forward to supporting you on your healing journey.

I have taken many additional trainings over the years since becoming licensed, to help enhance my skills and to become a more well rounded therapist. The benefits of massage therapy are vast and can bring profound change and healing to the recipient. Below are some of the main reasons my clients seek massage therapy.

  • Many folks utilize massage therapy as a way to release mental stress as it quiets the mind and increases the body’s natural production of calming and happy hormones. Massage therapy’s effect on stress can leave the recipient feeling peaceful, and nurture them into a resting state instead of fight or flight, which is where chronic stress takes us. Many people experience better sleep quality post massage therapy sessions.

  • Living with chronic pain can have a major effect on our mental health and ability to complete normal daily tasks. Whether you’re living with long-term discomfort or acute pain, I aim to target the root of your issues and ease the severity of your symptoms. My goal is to ease soft tissue restrictions, enhance blood flow which decreases knots, calm your nervous system, and help you move through life with more comfort and less pain.

  • Poor posture can cause aches, fatigue, and stress on the body. Through focused techniques, I work to release tension, improve alignment, and restore a sense of lightness so your body feels more supported and balanced. I also find it important to inform clients of areas of the body that appear weak or overstretched, so that they can focus on strengthening to bring balance to their posture. The body as a whole functions much more effectively when it is in alignment.

  • Chronic knots can be resolved through massage therapy and focusing on overall health like exercise, stress management and proper diet and hydration. These techniques go beyond surface relaxation, reaching deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. By addressing specific pain patterns and trigger points, we can release chronic tension and encourage realignment of the body.

  • Cupping therapy is performed in conjunction with manual massage therapy to help stretch tense areas and increase blood flow, to allow for more supple and flexible soft tissue. I incorporate sliding cupping therapy with soft silicone cups and on occasion use stationary cupping with hard plastic suction cups as needed. Cupping therapy is great for anyone who has chronic tension. There is no additional charge for cupping therapy being incorporated into a massage and it is used discretionarily.

  • Massage therapy is highly beneficial during pregnancy. It can help reduce the aches and pains of a changing body, improve sleep, and enhance mobility in preparation for a smooth delivery. Prenatal massage focuses on areas that need extra attention, oftentimes being the lower back and hips that are under a lot of stress due to carrying the baby. I have taken an additional prenatal certification course after being trained while in massage school and love working with pregnant women. I have a prenatal massage cushion that has a cut out for the belly and breast, allowing the mother to lie face down and enjoy relaxing massage on the back, hips and legs. I am also able to accommodate traditional side lying prenatal massages.
