What is a knot?

This is a question I hear a lot as a massage therapist.

A knot is an area of tangled strands of muscle fibers that result from overuse, injury or weakness of muscles.

Knots are commonly found in the shoulder area, the broad muscles that are on either side of the spine, glutes and calves.

Can you get rid of a knot?

☝️Massage therapy is an excellent tool to remove or greatly diminish a knot. Massage works to reduce the pain of knots by pumping fresh blood into the area and by smoothing out the wound up fibers with massage strokes.

✌🏼Proper hydration helps keep knots at bay by flushing out waste in the body and keeping the blood pumping properly.

🤟🏾Deep tissue work can bring tremendous relief for chronically knotted areas of the body.

👋🏼You don’t have to accept that knots are just a part of your life forever.

We will work together to combat this painful issue!
